Like most anglers, I started fishing with my father at an early age. Summers in Sakonnet, Rhode Island would not have been complete without several trips bottom fishing for tautog off the rocks. Under the guidance of my older brother, Chris, I delved into other types of fishing, first surfcasting for stripers and blues, then boat fishing with plugs, live eels and trolling tackle. I even spent one summer offshore, spotting swordfish during the glory years of the harpoon fishery. But sport fishing along the coast is what really held my interest. Ultimately, fly-rodding and light-tackle plugging became my favorite methods.
For many years a professional woodworker, then home building contractor, I turned to guiding full time in 1994. I specialize in shallow-water angling along the uncrowded coastlines of southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Cuttyhunk and the Elizabeth Islands are a favorite destination.
